As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll be working on the development and enhancement of pipelines and tooling to support the teams building contact centre applications, keeping the platforms up to date and optimising their performance. These applications utilise a mixture of common application tools and more specialist technologies related to telephony, speech recognition, customer interaction and automated testing of these solutions that we’ll introduce you to. You’ll work with the development teams as an expert on good CI/CD practice, helping them to identify and remove bottlenecks in the software delivery process to enable the more rapid delivery of value to our clients in the organisation.
|What will you be doing?|
Develop, enhance, standardise, document and maintain pipelines and tooling, supporting the adoption and ongoing use of common CI/CD facilities and techniques in the development teamCollaborate effectively with colleagues – Architects, Designers, Testers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Project Managers etc.Continually improve your own skills and knowledge, keeping up to date with review emerging system engineering methods, tools and standardsTrack key metrics to analyse the effectiveness of CI / CD practices, review regularly and action resulting improvementsEnsure solutions are extensible, maintainable, testable, scalable, manageable and performantProactively manage risks and issuesContribute to operational objectives of wider team and support any organisational transformation initiativesComplete assigned work to budget, time and quality requirements
What we’re looking for:
A firm understanding of DevOps / CI / CD in an enterprise context coupled with an understanding of PaaS and Cloud deployment optionsExperience with DevOps tools and platforms such as OpenShift, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Gradle, Maven and their equivalentsA continuous improvement and automation mindset coupled with the ability to implement pipelines, processes and tooling for others to utilise for efficient software deliveryExcellent problem solving skills – the ability to triage complex issues, determine action plans and see them through to completion
Skills that will help you in the role:
Knowledge and experience of software development in Java and/or .NETKnowledge and experience of end-to-end infrastructure including firewalls, load balancers, application servers etc.An exposure to test automation, test driven development (TDD) and agile delivery practicesIt is preferred but not essential for you to have a BSc degree in a relevant software engineering or other technical discipline, equivalent to UK 2nd class honours
